Invitation to all singers. 2016
The Jersey Festival Choir AGM
7.30pm Jersey College for Girls Preparatory School
Wednesday 7th September 2016
If you used to sing, if you would like to find out if you CAN sing or if you just love Carols, why not come along to the AGM and find out what we did last year (Mozart’s Requiem)and what we intend to do this year? After that we meet on Wednesdays at JCG Prep at 7.30. with our new conductor William Millow gradually succeeding our previous regular inspiring conductors Libby Farnon and Sue De Gruchy who will be helping him in the succession process over this year.
In any case we will be preparing for our annual Festival of Carols in St Thomas Church on Wednesday December 14th. and you could have a say in which of your favourite carols you would like us -
Our April Concert will include Rutter’s “The Mass of the Children”. The date for that is Saturday, April 29th. conducted by our old friend David Lawrence, now based back in Jersey.
All levels of singers warmly welcome – and no audition is required -
We are always on the look out for keen (though not necessarily expert) singers. Come along to a rehearsal and say hello, you'll find a warm welcome!
If you wish to support the choir but aren’t a singer then you could become a Friend of the choir; details can be found here
You might ask yourself "Why should I join?"; well the benefits of choral singing are becoming more and more well known as this article in the Daily Telegraph of 5th April 2016 shows, “Joining a choir can help to keep cancer at bay” and this one at the BBC site shows
